Depths of Perception
Bachelor of Architecture Thesis | Cornell University | 2013
The world exists in 3 dimensions, is projected by light onto our retina as a 2 dimensional image, and perceived in the mind in 3 dimensions. This project makes this 3D/2D/3D perceptual translation visible spatially with a full-scale architectural installation.
The 3D space of Milstein Hall is projected onto the 2D wall separating Milstein from Sibley Hall, and that information is expanded back out into Sibley, creating a new object in a space whose identity was taken away by the construction of Milstein.
